Wedding Planning Tips

Make the schedule first: This is one of our favorite tips! Start by picking a time of day for your ceremony. Then you can work backwards to see when you need to start getting ready and then forwards to see when you want your reception. Once you have these down on paper, you can start to fill in your vendors and schedule your people.

Schedule time to rest: So often we see schedules that have no buffers and no time to sit down and enjoy your amazing day with friends and family. Schedule in time to sit down, take it in, take off those uncomfortable shoes, stare into each other’s eyes and enjoy it.

Go easy on the schedule: This goes along with scheduling rest. Take a moment to think about how long your day is. If you start at 6am and end at 11pm, that’s a 17 hour day on your feet, talking to people, answering questions, and all around being at attention.

Put your budget where it lasts: Now, this may sound self serving coming from a photographer. Remember that most wedding decorations are thrown in the garbage that night. The things that last beyond that day are the people, the photos and the videos that come from the day. If you have a choice, put your money where you get long-term return. A good photographer can make a dollar store centerpiece look like you paid a mint, and the opposite is true.
